Setting and maintaining the highest level of professionalism and industry standards is a priority for the IICTC.
Clinical Members hold the highest level of membership and adhere to strong standards and ongoing requirements as set by the IICTC. Their membership is a display of their dedication to their field, the modality of CTC, their clients and their own personal development.
To maintain this level of membership requires annual supervision and professional development hours.
Requirements to join or upgrade to Clinical Member:
- Completion of CTC Certification program which meets minimum standards
- A minimum of 200 client hours post CTC training. Download Clinical Hours Log Form
- A minimum of 5 hours supervision / Mentoring in the past 12 months (details below)
- A minimum of 16 hours ongoing professional development. For More details Click Here
- Holds current professional indemnity and personal liability insurance
Q.1) How many supervision and OPD points do I need if I join mid year?
Answer:: You will be required to complete the pro-rata equivalent
Q.2) What if I have not accrued enough OPD or Supervision hours before 30 June?
Answer:: You may request a 3 month extension to complete the requirements. Only one extension every 3 years will be given. If you do not complete the requirements your membership will be downgraded to certified member.
If you are an IICTC Clinical Member you are required to complete 16 hours of Ongoing Professional Development and 5 hours of Clinical Supervision each year (1 July to 30 June). If you haven't completed your required hours you can ask for a 3 month extension. However the next years requirements will need to be completed in 9 months instead of 12. If after the 3-month extension you still have not completed the requirements you can renew your membership at the lower level of Certified Member and upgrade again the next renewal year
As an IICTC Clinical Member you are required to participate in a minimum of 5 hours of Clinical Supervision/Mentoring annually. This is reportable at the time of membership renewal.
In order to set and maintain the highest standards the IICTC is aligned with other allied health modalities requiring therapists and counselors to participate in Clinical Supervision/Mentoring to enhance skills as a clinician.
The purpose of this requirement is:
• to ensure that IICTC Clinical Members are held to the highest standards of quality training and ongoing professional development.
• It is the intention of the IICTC to be in alignment with the standard practice of mental health regulations in Australia. The purpose of this is to ensure that we are in the best possible position to be a reputable and recognized modality by the government and health funds or should regulative bodies be formed to oversee the fields of therapy and coaching.
Clinical Supervision / Mentoring is essential for Clinicians to:
• Develop new skills, receive guidance, mentoring and to maintain the highest level of practice.
• Assisting with the success of your business and grow your skills professionally and personally
• Provide the best possible therapy for your client
• Assist in recognizing potential transference and counter-transference issues with clients.
Your Clinical Supervisor/Mentor is someone who is highly skilled in CTC and trained to mentor individuals and groups. Time with your mentor can result in and increase of your professional credibility. Undertaking Supervisions/Mentoring at the very least indicated your commitment to professional development and to providing your clients with the very best therapy.

Q.1) What are the benefits of Clinical Supervision/Mentoring?
Answer:: Clinical supervision/Mentoring is a great way refine your skills, keep up with the latest changes and get professional advice that will help you to be the best therapist that you can be.
It’s an opportunity to be guided to ensure that you are using the CTC tools in the best way possible, ensuring that specific issues are recognized and targeted easily. You can also ask questions related to a client that you are working with and receive guidance on how to best move forward. Having an independent person to discuss client cases with and having a dissociated point of view will help you to have another set of eyes look at your work and will help you to further learn and develop your skills. It’s also useful to have an objective person help you to identify possible transference or counter-transference issues.
From a business perspective your mentor is a good sounding board who may offer advice on how to develop good practice habits as well as business and administrative mentoring. It also helps for you to debrief especially if you are dealing with Critical incident stress e.g. a crisis session, suicide, disclosure of abuse etc. This can become a strong and beneficial relationship assisting you to become the best possible therapist and therefore enabling you to deliver the best possible service to your clients.
Q.2) What happens during a Supervision/Mentoring session?
Answer:: A supervision/Mentoring Session is not having someone sitting beside you while you conduct a CTC session. Generally you will arrange an In person or Skype meeting with your Supervisor/Mentor and discuss any client issues, concerns or seek advice in a confidential manner.
Your Mentor may identify patterns to work on and share how to get the best possible outcome. Your own concerns and issues will also be addressed and released.
Q.3) I’ve been a CTC Therapist for many years. Do I still have to participate in the Supervision/Mentoring?
Answer:: Yes, in order to maintain your Clinical Membership with IICTC you must do the required Supervision/Mentoring hours. Poor habits and limiting beliefs can form even in the most experienced therapists and with a feedback mechanism, you as a therapist would be none the wiser. This will ensure that not only are you feeling and working at your highest potential but are also delivering the best therapy to your client.
Q.4) Do I get to choose my Supervisor/Mentor?
Answer:: Your Supervisor/Mentor will have a minimum of 5 years of Clinical experience and will have completed the approved Supervision Training Program as set by Joanne Antoun of the IICTC. For now the founder, Joanne Antoun is the only available Supervisor/Mentor due to her 17+ years of experience with CTC. In time as trained therapists gain experience and become Supervisors/Mentors they will be listed and you are then free to choose a Supervisor that best suits you.
Q.5) How many hours of Supervision is required annually?
Answer:: You are required to have 5 hours of Supervision/Mentoring each year between 1 July and 30 June.
